PATH Interreg - PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH CAMPAIGN LAUNCH
To support the launch of PATH campaign, we developed two animations depicting the real-life stories of two individuals, affected by perinatal mental illness. In order to make the stories relevant to as wide an audience as possible we chose Sandra (a single black mother based in London) and Mark (a married Welshman) as our collaborators on this project. While each of them had been affected by perinatal mental illness in different ways and for different reasons, they both decided to actively campaign for this issue as a result of their experiences.
We harnessed their inspiring stories and retold them as animations, which were used on the PATH website and within a diverse range of media materials, to connect with patients and families and friends of those currently experiencing perinatal mental illness. We particularly targeted those at the beginning of their journey with perinatal mental health (PMH) in the hope to educate and encourage them to seek support.
We worked closely with Sandra and Mark to develop animations based directly on their experiences. Through the process of interviews and discussions we developed two scripts, which formed the basis of the animations and were ultimately narrated by Sandra and Mark themselves.
